Numismatics is the study and collection of coins, paper currency, and medals. It involves the examination and classification of coins, researching their history and significance, and building a collection.
Numismatic coins are rare, collectible coins that have historical significance or unique features that make them valuable to collectors. Bullion coins, on the other hand, are typically made of precious metals like gold, silver, or platinum and are bought and sold based on their weight and purity.
Generally, we do not purchase coins and bullion from customers. As mentioned in other places on our website, we are downsizing our collection, and want to help others build theirs. If you are new to collecting, and wanting to get a general idea of what a coin or bullion piece is worth, we are happy to help you with this information.
There are several resources on the internet which can help you determine the price of coins. If an item shown is a graded coin, those are easy to compare using sites such as pcgs.com or ngccoins.com. For special edition coins, those prices are usually set by the manufacturer, but you can still search the internet for comparable options. For coins which are not graded nor special edition coins we do our best to grade them according to ANA standards. The price we have them listed for is where we have determined their value based on those standards.
We do our best to provide you the best quality items at a fair price. Often we are below retail price and try to pass on value to you our customer. Most of our items are made of precious metals, so even if you pay retail today, these items will increase in value over the long term.
We do! We belong to the American Numismatic Association as well as the National Grading Corporation. We are looking at others to join to continue to provide the best benefits for us and for you our customer.
No, we do not offer professional coin grading services using the Sheldon grading scale. We would refer you to one of the industry leaders who are known in the numismatic world for the consistency and accuracy. (PCGS, NGC, CAC, ANACS).
